Katie’s journey with dance began at age 9, as a level 7 gymnast looking for something more.  Dance soon became her passion, training in all styles of dance, including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical/contemporary, modern, hip hop, musical theatre, acro, and voice.  Stage was a special place where she found her responsibility was to make people feel something.  Before turning 18, Katie was offered two professional dance jobs and college dance scholarships.  After graduating with honors from Redmond High School, Katie chose to work as a professional dancer and aerialist onboard Holland America Line cruise ships, traveling to several continents including Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America. She danced with Lionel Richie at the Wynn Hotel opening in Las Vegas, and has been an Assistant Choreographer to John Charron and Patti Columbo.  Katie was locally seen onstage acting, singing, and dancing in “42nd Street” at the Village Theatre in Issaquah.  Her passion for dance has not only been seen on stage, but also over the past 12 years in her teaching.  Katie has had the opportunity to travel the nation as a National Dance Adjudicator, and Master level dance instructor.  For Katie, finding yoga was like reconnecting to her inner child.  Through yoga, Katie was able to transform her body, and connect on a deeper level in relationships and with her true self.  Her excitement for this mind, body, and spirit experience, led her to teacher training at 8 Limbs Yoga Centers in Seattle, where she completed her 200 hour certification recognized by the worldwide Yoga Alliance.  Her studies have included master classes from Rod Stryker, Melina Meza, Chiara Guerrieri , Jenny Hayo, and Anne Phyfe Palmer.  Katie’s vinyasa style classes combine held postures and flow.  Katie’s sequencing is creative and intentional.  Students leave her class in a blissful physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual state, able to reach new depths in every way.  Her down to earth connection with people is what sets her apart.  Looking forward to continuing education and 500 hours of certification, Katie is loving her lifelong yoga journey!  The opening of IGNITE has been an incredible opportunity for Katie to share her passion.  She challenges students to dive into the unknown, follow their dreams, and live life to the fullest.  Always live the joy that dance and yoga brings to your life, and make a difference!
