FAQs

  • Registration for Fall 2023 | Spring 2024 School Year is open.

We accept enrollments for the school year starting in spring. As classes fill, a waiting list will be maintained to accommodate additional students as space becomes available. As waiting lists grow we look for places in the schedule where we can include additional options of our most popular classes to open up to our waitlist students. We also encourage our waitlist students to check out other class styles that may be of interest. Trying new things can IGNITE new passions!

Classes on the IGNITE schedule currently do not work for us - what are our options?
Please call or send us an email if you cannot find a class. We will help guide you in the right direction or possibly open up a new class that works for you if it’s possible within the schedule.

Does a dancer need any experience to join?
Potential students do not need experience to join. Register for the age appropriate or Level 1 class in the style of their choice. If you have questions navigating which level or style to choose please email or call the studio.

There is a $20 registration fee. Students may attend 1 Free Trial class in the style they are interested in registerring for. If the student is interested in more than 1 trial there is a $22 drop-in fee.

  • Registration

There is an annual $20 registration fee per dancer.

    Tuition

Tuition is automatically charged through the Jackrabbit account you registered your dancer with. You can see all of your monthly fees and transactions posted to this account throughout the year.

Youth class tuition is calculated per student with a 10% family discount. Monthly tuition is charged to your credit card on file on the first of each month. Monthly tuition is the same amount each month regardless of how many weeks in the month (some months have more weeks, some have less, but each class meets for the same amount of classes over the school year). If you miss a scheduled class, you can use a make up day (contact us in advance for classes available to your student for make ups). If your credit card declines, you will have 7 days to rectify the situation without incurring a $25 late Fee. It is your responsibility to keep your account current. Tuition is automatically charged to your account through the end of the season.

    Drop Class

If you need to drop a class, you must submit a cancellation request in writing or via email by the 15th of the current month to be effective the following month. There are no refunds for the current month. If we do not receive your cancellation request tuition and fees will continue to be charged to your account.

  • If you decide to change or quit a dance class, you are obligated to email a cancellation request to info@ignitedanceandyoga.com. Failure to submit notification in writing will result in payment of tuition until notified of your withdrawal. If tuition remains unpaid we reserve the right to forward your bill to collections. If you wish to drop a class, you must submit your request before the 15th of the month to avoid next month’s tuition.

  • Registering for a dance class at IGNITE includes participation in our Winter Showcase (early December) and Annual Recital in May/June. Winter Showcase is a performance at a local venue in conjunction with North Bend’s Holly Days that includes showings from our recreational classes and dance company. Our Annual Recital is our final performance event of the school year at a local theatre featuring dance numbers from our recreational classes, dance company, and our infamous Dad’s Dance. Recital costume fees are processed through Jackrabbit in February/March with Tuition and are non-refundable. All students are encouraged to participate in the Winter Showcase and Annual Recital. If you do not notify IGNITE via the recital consent form handed out in mid-February that you will not be participating in June Recital by March 1st you will be charged the non-refundable costume fee.

There are many benefits to participating in IGNITE performance opportunities. It helps to strengthen students technique and skills by providing additional motivation to practice daily. It helps to build confidence, gives students the opportunity to express themselves, and allows for the students' family and friends to see all they have accomplished over the year.

  • Students must have a dance bag and water bottle. Please label all shoes needed for class. There are lots of students with lots of the same dancewear! We are not responsible for belongings left at the studio or lost. Please make sure your belongings are placed along in the cubbies in the lobby hallway. Please keep the hallways clear to allow access to the bathrooms, studios, and exits. Students are required to clean up after themselves. At the end of each month we will gather belongings left behind in the studio and donate them.

  • Please review our dress code for all youth classes. We sell tights at the studio. Buy other dancewear and shoes at Dancewear Center in Kirkland or Renton. BUY IGNITE GEAR

Dress code is in place to benefit the dancer. Instructors are able to give better corrections when students are in proper dance attire. Dancers without proper attire may be asked to observe class. You should not change your dance attire between back to back classes. There is generally not enough time or space to do so. Dancers will need to dress accordingly to be prepared for all their classes. If you do not have proper attire, the front-desk may have pieces you can borrow.

Dancers must where non dance shoes to and from the studio and when walking to the yoga studio. We want to protect dancer feet when outside in the parking lot and keep our studio floors clean. In addition, make sure dancers where coverups over their leotard and tights to keep their muscles warm before and after class. Support IGNITE and get your branded coverups and dancewear from SquadLocker (15% of all sales go directly to the studio).

  • Drugs, Alcohol, Vape and Mind-Altering Substances are prohibited at IGNITE and IGNITE events. Dancers shall not illegally use, possess, sell, distribute, or be under the influence of drugs, alcohol, mind-altering substances, smoking (cigarettes or vape), medication not prescribed to them by a physician and approved in writing by the parent/guardian, drug paraphernalia or any item which purports to be such. Dancers will be pulled from the studio if they violate this policy.

    Studio Behavior + Etiquette

Dancers and parents should be respectful of the studio space. IGNITE is a safe and supportive environment for all ages to explore their potential.

Be mindful to limit the use of cell phones and to take long conversations outside. We strive to keep IGNITE a healthy and positive place. This can be met when we are mindful of our conversations by not putting anyone or anything down. Any disciplinary actions you enter into with your own children should be taken care of outside of the studio.

If, at any time, you have questions or concerns regarding something experienced at IGNITE, please don’t hesitate to email the studio.

Please do not contact any IGNITE teacher via phone, text, email, Facebook, or any other social media. You may contact the front desk and we will relay your messages.

    Class Behavior/Etiquette:

Be sure to arrive on time. Being more than 15 mins late equals ONE absence. If you are going to be late, please call to let us know and wait outside the dance room until the teacher motions you in. If you are over 10 minutes late a teacher may ask you to sit down or warm up separately before joining class to keep you safe and prevent injury.

Dance bags should be left in the lobby cubbies and water bottles need to be brought into the dance room. Please be sure to pack a reusable water bottle in your dance bag. If you have several classes in a row, eating a quick snack between classes is OK, but PLEASE let the teacher know. This means eating in 5 mins or less!

A positive attitude and a SMILE in the dance room is a must! Be respectful of your instructor and your fellow dancers who are there to learn and have a good time. Be assertive, moving quickly to prepare for across the floor, or when asked to move to the center of the room. Dancers talking while the instructor is talking or neglecting to follow directions will be given a chance to remedy the situation at hand. If it happens a second time, dancers will be asked to leave the room and to re-enter when they feel they are ready. Eye contact and interaction is greatly appreciated.

Dancers are encouraged to thank their instructor at the end of each class.

Parents, feel free to stay and watch technique classes (blinds may be pulled during choreography). This way you can see what is taught in class and see how your child is progressing. However, once your dancer is in the dance room, the instructor is in charge. Please don’t interact with your kids as they are trying to learn and can be distracting to other students and the teacher.

Private instruction with any of our teachers is available. Scheduling should be done by emailing the studio. The teachers should not be contacted directly. The private rate is $85 per hour. IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL YOUR SCHEDULED PRIVATE, YOU MUST DO SO WITHIN 24 HOURS OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE PRIVATE. EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE FOR SICK OR FAMILY EMERGENCIES.

Student/parent/teacher conferences are available during conference week.

  • All students must sign the assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19 when registerring for classes at IGNITE.

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, prohibited the congregation of groups of people. Katie Black Enterprises LLC (DBA IGNITE Dance & Yoga) has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, Katie and IGNITE cannot guarantee that students will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, attending IGNITE could increase student’s risk of contracting COVID-19. By signing up for class the student acknowledges the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assumes the risk that they may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending IGNITE and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. The student understands that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at IGNITE may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of yourself and others, including, but not limited to, IGNITE employees, staff, and program participants and their families. Student voluntarily agrees to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to themselves (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that they may experience or incur in connection with their attendance at IGNITE or participation in IGNITE programming ("Claims").
